Sunday morning painting
Meo, Lily, Alice and I went to a very interesting painting workshop this morning in Park Extension at the Atelier de Charlotte. Charlotte Cauchies was a student of Arno Stern who created a method for nurturing children's imagination through free-style painting. His system, applied rigourously by Charlotte, uses an enclosed room, called le "Clos Lieu" where all walls are used for pinning white sheets of paper where the participants (adults too) will paint using the paintbrushes and paint colours placed at their disponsal on a long and narrow table located in the middle for all to have easy access to. The table offers about twenty different colours, with a matching pot of water to moisten the brushes, and three brushes reserved for each corresponding colour.
We all had great fun for a good hour, and then stayed on for a short question period and an exquisite fruit juice (made with oranges, beets, carrots, apples and ginger). I can't post any picture of the resulting masterpieces we painted because it's one of the rules of this "Jeu de Peindre" that nobody paints here for the purpose of showing their paintings. It's all about free, non-judged, non-commented exploration of colours and shapes. So the pictures above show us in the adjacent room to the "Clos lieu", where Alice and Lily were kind of goofing around and relaxing after their strenuous creative efforts ;-)
