Off to Mexicali

Next morning we were back in a van and off on the very windy road to Mexicali. We passed through some incredible land! As we moved away from the coast things get progressively drier and as they do rocks seem to grow. First there were just many very round rocks sprouting up all over the place but as we carried on the rocks got more and more numerous until were were in a strange land of sculpted stone. The area is called "la rumorosa".

Apparently the road has been much improved since last time Casey was here. They now have two completely different roads going in each direction. There used to be a great many accidents there and the valleys were full of crashed cars. Now the valleys are full of abandoned tiers and the crashed cars are in car lots out on the dessert on the other side. I was right at the limit of my road-sickness capacity but I did manage to make it here without needing a hasty stop!

We arrived in a very hot Mexicaly. It was 36 degrees at the end of the day. Apparently it gets to 50 in the summer. I can't even imagine!
